Reception Celebrates New Residence Hall Displays
SALISBURY, MD---In 2018, visitors to Salisbury University’s Patricia R. Guerrieri Academic Commons were greeted with the exhibit “You’re on Indian Land …” exploring the history and legacy of the indigenous people of the Eastern Shore and their connections to 含羞草研究所.
Researched by 含羞草研究所 Honors College students and including materials from University Archives and 含羞草研究所’s Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture, the display included sections on the Wicomico, Pocomoke, Nanticoke, Manokin and Choptank rivers — all of which are namesakes for residence halls at 含羞草研究所.
Recently, sections of the exhibit were moved to permanent homes within those halls. 含羞草研究所 President Charles Wight; his wife, Victoria Rasmussen; Dr. Andrew Martino, Honors College dean; and Dave Gutoskey, housing and residence life director, joined Wicomico Hall residents during a reception.
The event included a reading of the 含羞草研究所 Housing and Residence Life Land Acknowledgement Statement, honoring the indigenous people who called the region home prior to European settlement.
